Audio system finished

I have a custom form fitting fiberglass sub enclosure wrapped in trunk carpeting to match. I cut the mounting board out of 1/2 inch MDF, form fit into the trunk recess, and painted a high gloss black with hours of sanding for an ultra smooth finish. Topped it off with 3 layers of Poorboys Wheel Sealant. It's extra thick wax that really brings out the gloss of the clearcoat.

Components:
Alpine SWS-1043D 10" subwoofer set at 2ohm
Alpine MRP-M500 mono amplifier

I am also planning on removing the red trunk light and using blue LEDS in a pattern to light the trunk.

New car audio sub box

My previous car audio install included the Alpine PLV-7 which was a quite large self contained box system that took up most of my trunk and weighed at 70lbs. Although the bass was substantial and I loved the the look of the unit, the cons of having so much weight and no trunk space started to creep on me. The PLV-7 is really designed for a SUV.
Come to find out I have a cousin who works in building custom car audio systems. His company is http://www.wickedcas.com/ He mentioned to me that he has a 10" custom sub box that is formed to fit in my RX-8. I took him up on his generosity and he had the box shipped to me. After seeing first hand the craftmanship of this piece I honestly must say it is worth every penny.
On order is an Alpine SWS-1043D 10" subwoofer and Alpine MRP-M500 amp. I am also in the process of building a custom high gloss black panel made of MDF that fits in the trunk floor recess for the amp to be mounted on.

Summer Send-Off 4

Mazda RX-8
Took home my last trophy for the season. 3rd place in the Mazda class. My good friend Mark who owns a Mazda Protege 5 with many mods and a custom turbo install joins me in these show and thus usually takes home 1st or 2nd place. Great guy and his awards are well deserved.
